Anybody playing it? What do you think?
The casing on one hinge of my DS Lite has been broken for ages now, but it was just a cosmetic thing—it cracked, and then chips fell away until the metal inside was exposed, but as long as I was careful with it, there were no problems. Well, last night I was fumbling around on my bedside table and knocked the DS a foot+ to a tile floor. When I checked out the damage, the hinge was now...out of alignment, I guess is the best way to put it. The top screen no longer works (I get a flash of color stripes when I turn it on, then black) and it doesn't recognize the game cartridge inside.
I accept that this is my own fault and I might just have to buy a new DS, but is there any chance this could be repaired? Looking at it, it appeared that some internal wiring might have been jerked loose, but I could just be kidding myself about the fixability. I can afford a new one, but I'm sort of nostalgically attached to my original. (I know, I know, it's silly.) I've never actually had a console in need of repair before, so I figured people here would know better than me. Anything you can share would be very appreciated.

If I do suck it up and get a new one, at least I can get a new color. Silver lining and all. I think I'd get another regular Lite, though; the DSi doesn't really interest me, and I like having the GBA slot since I never had one of those. And I'll never leave it in nighttime fumble-range again.

Happy New Year!
This was the first time Jonathan and I went out and did something for New Years Eve in 4 years! (A few couples are missing cause they had to leave early...KIDS!)
NOTE: May be offensive to people, especially in this comm. I've come across countless, countless gamers like this guy in-game (and gotta admit, they can be entertaining!) and have always wondered what it may be like if they treated the world like a game :X Don't get too riled up and just have a little giggle~

What could be better than some zombie-brain-bashing fun with Left 4 Dead? How about some L4D zombie-brain-bashing in glorious retro 8-bit? Better yet, how about playing it for free?
Pixel Force: Left 4 Dead – a “retro de-make of Valve’s hit zombie killing masterpiece” that offers two difficulty levels and co-op – is now available to download from Eric Ruth Games. It’s worth a download for the kick-ass 8-bit soundtrack alone.

"We have the only house in our neighborhood with no video games. My son has explained to me many times how this makes us freakish aliens from space.
I truly believe that video games were created by Satan to turn otherwise normal children into his drooling, glassy-eyed stooges. After my son plays them at his friends’ houses, he comes home irritable and testy for the rest of the day.
Even though his skin is normally mocha-colored, after a day spent in a darkened room with a controller in his hand, he comes home with a sickly pallor."

Personally, I think she is afraid of something she doesn't understand. She didn't even give it a chance. She's assuming that every kid who plays video games will end up being involved in a 911 "my kid won't go to bed" phone call. Isn't that parenting? To make your children go to bed at bedtime? I don't know, maybe I'm all wrong.

Hi all!
What are the best / worst / most memorable side quests you have played in any game?
I am trying to figure out what people like or dislike about side quests in games (particularly action games like Assassin's Creed 2, Batman Arkham Asylum, Uncharted 2 etc.). What kind of reward do you want from a side quest (more narrative, experience, stuff, outfits?)? How big / long / difficult should they be?
Personally I think side quests can deepen my gaming experience, like the chain of quests you have to do to unlock Altair's outift in AC2. Or even finding all the feathers in order to get the cape (which is purely decorative, right?)

No, this isn't about the trope where a company releases the latest installment of a franchise in another country rather than releasing the original installment. But it's closely related.
Namely, did you get into a particular series by playing the sequel/s first, rather than the first game?
As an example, ( Personal thoughts. )

I came to this country with just the clothes on my back and a dream in my heart.
( the park )

All the Christmas decorations came down today, so the family pictures returned to the mantel. A good looking bunch, no?

I ordered this to help me lose the rest of my baby weight. I'm already finding excuses for why I haven't used it yet.

Santa didn't have the forethought, of what a pain this kids stuff is to put together, so we just made her put it together herself. (And a fine job she did!) Actually she was helping Daddy!
